Class description

IMPROV LEVEL 1 — Environment & Character

This course will focus on environment, physicality, character, and fun play. Over 10 weeks, we will focus on building presence, spontaneity, embodiment, confidence through playful and grounded scene work.

Classes combine exercises, character exploration, object work, environmental creation and improvised scenes in a supportive and collaborative environment.

No previous improv or acting experience is required.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to create believable environments and shared physical worlds
  • Stronger spontaneity, presence, and confidence on stage
  • Listening and responding instinctively in the moment
  • How to support scenes through physicality, play, and imagination
  • Students will learn to stop overthinking and start trusting their instincts, imagination and physical impulses in the moment.

The atmosphere is supportive, low-pressure and collaborative. Mistakes are treated as opportunities and students are encouraged to take risks, stay curious, and support each other fully.

The course concludes with a showcase on our stage, where you'll have the opportunity to share what you've learned with friends, family, and fellow students.
