Class description

MUSICAL THEATER 3 - Ensemble & Character

This course focuses on ensemble work and character development through a musical theater piece. Over 10 weeks, you will rehearse and perform material from a musical while developing your acting, storytelling, and collaboration skills. Each student will be assigned a role and explore their own interpretation of the character.

Participation in this course requires that you’ve gone through Musical Theater Levels 1–2 at Dice Theater, as it builds on the skills developed throughout the curriculum.

What You'll Learn

• How to work effectively as part of an ensemble

• Character creation and development techniques

• How to build and perform a character’s journey throughout a story

Students will develop their ability to bring a character to life using their voice, body and imagination. Through scene work, music and movement. Students will learn how to stay connected to the story while supporting their fellow performers on stage.

Classes are supportive, creative, and collaborative. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, explore new ideas and take their performance skills to the next level. Working together as an ensemble they will build confidence, deepen their artistic expression and support one another throughout the process.

The course concludes with a showcase on our stage, where you'll have the opportunity to share what you've learned with friends, family, and fellow students.
